Taha has a message about mental health

We love this poem written by Taha, aged 15, for an open-mic poetry event in Birmingham.

It sums up so well how our young people are becoming increasingly influenced and affected by so many different challenges in life and how this is having a worrying effect on their mental health.

Passionate about the cause, Taha has been an avid supporter of Young Minds Matter since performing at our first event in 2017.

  • Emily’s concerns for her generation

    Emily’s concerns for her generation

Emily performed at our first concert in 2017, aged 14, and was so moved and inspired by how Young Minds Matter brought mental health out into the open, that she wrote to Sue after the event and said she would love to get involved again if there was to be another concert.

Fast forward to 2020, and Emily has since performed in our 2019 concert, is helping to organise the 2020 concert, is about to become a Trustee of Young Minds Matter and is also doing some work experience with us!

  • Our tireless campaigner Eliza!

    Our tireless campaigner Eliza!

Eliza was the youngest speaker at our 2017 event when at 20 years old, she spoke candidly and openly about her previous years of struggles with self-harm and depression.

Having recovered, she spent her subsequent years at university actively involved in mental health support groups, using her experience to help others, whilst at the same time flying the flag for Young Minds Matter and leading our social media activity.

Always on the look-out for new ways of raising awareness and funds for supporting Young Minds Matter and our young people, we are delighted that Eliza will shortly become one of our Trustees. Her passion for the cause is relentless!
