Our vision is a world where every young person receives the support they deserve, to build resilience, self-esteem and focus to enable them to live a purposeful and happy life.
Who are we?
We are a Warwickshire based, registered charity called Young Minds Matter. We support young people through our mentoring service, building resilience, self-esteem and confidence. We also host inspirational fundraising events, showcasing the amazing talents of young people and promoting mental health awareness.
How do we help?
Our Mentoring
We provide 1:1 mentoring sessions in schools across Warwickshire for children and young people aged 5-18, free of charge. Most students attend a weekly session with one of our experienced and qualified mentors. Our mentors provide a safe space in which a young person can share any anxieties or concerns that they might be experiencing. We work closely with schools to ensure that the young person is supported holistically, with support from other mental health professionals and collaborations with like-minded organisations if necessary.
What else do we do?
Young Minds Matter receives no government or NHS funding and relies entirely on donations and fundraising. We want to ensure that our services are accessible to as many young people as possible, including overcoming the financial barriers that parents, carers, schools and other agencies might be facing. With this in mind, we organise fundraising concerts and events that give young people a platform and voice, as well as raising awareness for mental health in young people.
We truly believe in the power of music to transform mental health and encourage positive mental wellbeing. To date, we’ve held two phenomenal fundraising concerts, showcasing the musical talents of some extraordinary young people, with inspirational and moving speakers, whilst also raising awareness of the mental health challenges facing young people. So far, we’ve raised £57,300 from our two fundraising concerts.
Our concerts have young people at the heart, from the performers to speakers, to technical and organisational support. We give young people the opportunity to take on responsibility and improve their confidence and self-esteem.
For our next fundraising concert, we are delighted to be returning to the prestigious Warwick Hall. The concert will be in 2024 and details of how to buy tickets will be available here soon.
Why is what we do so important?
School Children are facing more challenges than ever before. With the impact of coronavirus and lockdown, academic pressures, social media and more, we recognise the responsibility that we have to protect and nurture young people. According to Stratford Town Trust (2022), In April 2022, there was an increase of 109% compared to the same month pre-pandemic of under 19s referred to CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).*
We recognise that every young person is unique, and it is our aim is to ensure that they can recognise and embrace this, so that they can face the future with confidence and self-esteem, and fully reach their potential.
